The Universal Table is the engine of FASERIP. Every action that needs resolution uses the same procedure: roll d% (two ten-sided dice), find the row on the left, find the column matching the rank of the ability or power being used, and read the color in that cell.
The color tells you how well the action went: White is a failure or miss, Green is a standard success, Yellow is a notably good success, Red is the best possible outcome.
The Advanced Set added ranks above Unearthly to accommodate cosmic beings and Marvel's escalating power levels. The 1984 Basic Set capped at Class 1000; the Advanced Set extends through Beyond. These extended ranks are canonical from the Advanced Players Book — Class 1000 / 3000 / 5000 / Beyond are "not available to most heroes" but are used to define cosmic entities like Eternity and Galactus.
| Rank | Number | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Shift X | 150 | Cosmic-tier (Thor's hammer-thrown) |
| Shift Y | 200 | Galactic-scale (mid-tier cosmics) |
| Shift Z | 500 | Stellar-scale |
| Class 1000 | 1000 | Planetary (Galactus hungry, Adamantium) |
| Class 3000 | 3000 | Stellar-systems-scale |
| Class 5000 | 5000 | Cosmic (the Beyonder, the One-Above-All) |
| Beyond | ∞ | Pure narrative / un-measurable |
See Ranks for the full ladder with descriptions.
The matrix at the top of the table lists combat actions across columns (Blunt Attacks, Edged Attacks, Shooting, Throwing, Energy, Force, Grappling, Grabbing, Escaping, Charging, Dodging, Evading, Blocking, Catching, Stun?, Slam?, Kill?) and reads off each color result per action. See Combat for the full breakdown of these actions.
